Radar Heats Up Out West with Director Danny J. Boyle,
Signs Sherry & Co. for Sales
Comedy and kids specialist Danny J. Boyle signs with Radar in L.A.
Comedy director Danny J. Boyle has been added to the directorial roster at Radar as the Chicago-based company’s West Coast presence continues to grow. Boyle joins directing team Walter Robot as Radar’s L.A.-based talents. He’s best known for his live action work along with kid commercial spots, often collaborating with clients such as McDonald’s, IHOP and Nesquik. (Boyle also recently shot several spots for Sweet Spot Content in South Africa for Parmalat and Europcar, and is represented for Hispanic work via The Cortez Brothers.)
More recently, Boyle has branched out and directed episodes of sketch comedy series for Fox Television, Disney Channel and Comedy Central. Prior to its cancellation in 2008, Boyle teamed up with “MadTV,” directing the “Bon Qui Qui” sketches that have exploded with popularity on YouTube.
Boyle’s style is a diverse mix of kid and adult-targeted work that is often energetic and light-hearted. His comedy sketch work has appeared on both broadcast channels in the US as well as on the web. He recently branched out to direct a 15-webisode series for Disney, “Zeke and Luther: Summer Dash For Cash.” This series combined Boyles’ ability to mesh strong performances from kids with his hand at comedy.
Boyle just wrapped his first Radar campaign, shot for Hasbro’s Playskool line of baby toys through agency Uproar in New York.
Expanding the West Coast sector, Radar has also signed Sherry Howell of Sherry & Company as its sales representative for the region.
